The simple

    past

Use the simple past tense to talk about completed actions or situations. 

When talking about past, use the following expressions of time:

Last night, last week, last month,last year, a year ago, a month ago, yesterday, the day before yesterday, In...

Regular verbs change their form to the past by adding -d or -ed:

Irregular verbs do not take the -ed ending.  Some verbs do not change and others change completely.

  1. In general, if the verb ends in a consonant add -ed:

    Help    Helped

If the verb ends in -e add only -d:

    Love    Loved

If the verb ends in   a consonant plus -y, change -y to -i then add -ed:

   Try     Tried

If the verb ends in a vowel plus -y, add    -ed:

   Play      Played  

4.

In one syllable verbs   ending in a consonant- vowel-consonant, repeat the last consonant and then add -ed:

    Hope     Hopped

If the verb ends in -w, -z or -y, do not repeat the consonant add only --ed:

    Mix    Mixed

Verbs   ending with two or more syllables, ending in a consonant-vowel-consonant, repeat the last consonant only if the last syllable is stressed:

Information Questions

To make information questions, just  invert the position of the subject by position of the auxiliary and then add the -wh question at the beginning.
