Future in the past

  • It is used to talk about plans you had or didn't have in the past. 

  • Future in the past has two different forms

It is formed using three main components:

Yes / No Questions

To make Yes/No questions, just  invert the position of the subject by position of the aux verb to be in past.

So, she is not a doctor

So, they study

  • The second form is using "Would" + the verb in base form.

  • This form implies a possibility or expectation you had in the past

  • "Would" should be preceded after verbs of belief (know, think) or reporting verbs (say, tell)
